DoppelPrivacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what Doppel: Duplicate Cleaner (“Doppel”, “the app”) accesses on your device, why, and what happens to it. It applies to the Doppel app and its Clean & Share extension.
Information Doppel does not collect
Doppel does not collect, transmit or have access to any of the following, because the app has no server to send it to:
- Your photos, videos, contacts or files
- Your name, email address or any account identifier — Doppel has no accounts and no sign-in
- Location data, unless it is already embedded in a photo you open in Clean & Share, in which case Doppel reads it only to show and let you remove it
- Usage analytics, crash reports sent to us, or advertising identifiers
- Anything from a third-party analytics, advertising or tracking SDK — Doppel does not include any
What Doppel accesses on your device, and why
- Photos and videos
- With your permission, Doppel reads your photo library to compare images and find exact and, with Pro, similar or blurry copies. Comparisons happen entirely on-device using Apple's on-device Vision framework. Photos stored only in iCloud are skipped rather than downloaded. Nothing is uploaded. Deletions go to your device's Recently Deleted, where you can recover them for 30 days.
- Contacts
- With your permission, Doppel Pro reads your contacts to find likely duplicates by shared phone number, email or name. Before merging anything, Doppel writes a vCard backup of the affected contacts to the app's own folder inside Files on your device, so you can restore them yourself if needed. Contacts are never sent off your device.
- Files
- Doppel Pro's file scanner only reads folders you explicitly choose using the system's document picker. It never has standing access to your files, and it does not read anything outside the folder you pick.
- Photo and video metadata (Clean & Share)
- Clean & Share reads the metadata embedded in a photo or video you open or share to it — location, timestamps, device information, captions and similar — so it can show you what the file reveals. If you choose to remove some or all of it, Doppel rewrites a clean copy on your device. Your original file is never modified, and metadata is never sent anywhere; it is only ever displayed to you and then, at your choice, stripped.
In-app purchases
Doppel Pro is a one-time, non-consumable purchase handled entirely by Apple's App Store and StoreKit. Doppel never sees or stores your payment details. Apple's own privacy practices govern that transaction; see Apple's Privacy Policy.
Data stored on your device
Doppel keeps a small amount of information locally on your device only, using standard iOS storage (never transmitted anywhere):
- Whether you own Doppel Pro, so the app can unlock the right features after a restart
- A running total of the space you've freed, used only to show your own savings and, occasionally, to offer an App Store rating prompt
- Contact backups you create by merging duplicates, saved to Files on your device
None of this leaves your device, and deleting the app removes it.
Children's privacy
Doppel does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect information at all. The app is rated 4+.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same address with a new effective date.
